John 14:23-27
Jesus answered, If a person loves Me; be will keep My word and My Father will love him and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
Anyone who does not love Me does not observe and obey my teaching. And the teaching which you hear and heed is not Mine, but from Father Who sent me.
I have told you these things while I was still with you.
But the Comforter (intercessor, advocate, strengthener) the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall everything I have told you.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I now five and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [ Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]
-Amplified Bible.
There is a significant meaning to rain and peace for me right now. I keep finding passages on the eternal peace that the Holy Spirit instills within us. The peace from Jesus is not the kind of peace from this world. God gives us peace by covering us and raining the Holy Spirit down upon us/ within us. The Holy Spirit is our strength, and our joy for the Lord is our strength.

tis the season!
Drove back from little Loma home last night..one longgg drive. 8 hours on your butt in the rain, struggling to stay awake..not a good thing! I ended up pulling over 3 times and napping for 15 minutes one of the times. There's a lot to think about for me in this upcoming season of life! I leave for Ecuador in 6 days for 4 months! Transitioning from junior (chaotic!!!) year to study abroad will be a complete switch. From what I've heard the academics in study abroad program are much more...lax than anything. That's soo nice! yet i don't want to slack off too muchh! I think this will be an amazing opportunity that will be life changing. I am looking forward to appreciating how others live and how to view the world through a different culture. I found out the family that I am staying with; a family of 4 a mother-business woman, a father 44years of age and 2 girls, one 18 and one 16. I think if will be a new challenge to live with young girls. Growing up with my sister wasn't such a struggle because she was so much younger than I. These girls so close in age to each other and closer in age to me could present new challenges.
I am looking forward to seeing how God will grow me and teach me through others what this season will bring. Today in church, my mom and I went to Santa Margarita Community Church. The message was great. The pastor spoke on a variety of things and emphasized the meaning of Christmas. We as a society tend to place family as the number one priority during this season especially. He made a good point in saying that if we place our expectations entirely on family... that no wonder there is so much depression and animosity in the environment right now. We need to place our priority on Jesus and place our hope and our fulfillment should be in Christ and not in family. No family is perfect and no family will fill everyone's expectations.
I have been wanting to read C.S Lewis a lot lately and found our set of Narnia books..excited to read!! I've also heard a lot about numerous books by him including The Great Divorce. I'm been craving some C.S Lewis...I know he's got some great wisdom.:) The Passion of the Christ is also a book and from the book Irresistible Revolution, Shane Claiborne says to read the book before the movie, because its more than another read.

mommyy
My mommy came to visit for the Haiti benefit concert put on this thursday. It was a fantastic turn out and we had so much love in one room it was amazing. The freshly baked goods lined the festively decorated tables, the cozy groups of people swarmed by the free food and hot beverages in the back while thouroughly enjoying the musical treats.:) The bands were great and were so flexible with performing and volunteering their time. We as a kinesiology society put on the event and had hope to raise a thousand dollars this semester..with gathering about 600 dollars in a few weeks all we needed was about 400 to reach our goal..The flow of people continued to surge through the door fairly consistently through the event and the goodies went for 50 cents per item. Somehow we started to fill the jars and were pleasantly surprised when a generous hand dropped a 20$ or two.
My momma was there the entire night and helped decorate the place out adding the motherly touches. It had a warm and open feel as one walked through the doors and immediately the goodies and hanging wreaths were in sight.
It was so comforting to have my mommy there. I think she just made me feel so much more at home, I love seeing her and it is so nice to have family there. I have been going through a lot lately and the familiarity of having her there was unexplainable. I probably told her 20 times through the night how glad I was that she was there.
I love kitty cat. She's the best roomie.:) slash sister. slash blood.

pressure-less
It's funny how we can become so worked about things. Our world, our society is so good at convincing us that we must exhaust every minute and ultimately make exhaustion an idol. I seem to get caught up in the scheme of things from time to time and can't understand how to jump back out...then I surrender.
Jesus is so good. So forgiving and so welcoming. I get worked up thinking that whatever I do wrong God is disappointed in me and I am ashamed and feel guilty. That is our world and satan telling us that we are supposed to be perfect. Perfectionism and individualism are what our media demands...its hard to peel off the scales on our eyes and realize that these are not what God wants at all.
One of my all time favorite devotional books is My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. For December 1st this is in the text:
"I must get rid of the underlying idea that I can ever be right with God because of my obedience. Who of us could ever obey God to absolute perfection!
Whenever God's will is in complete control,He removes all pressure. And when we deliberately choose to obey Him, He will reach to the remotest star and to the ends of the earth to assist us with all of His almighty power."
I want to live in God's will. I want to live in God's HIGHest will.
Also in the text from November 28th
We can not earn or win anything from God through our own efforts. We must arrive at a place where we have the knowledge that we are destitute. Until we get there, our Lord is powerless. He can do nothing for us as long as we think we are sufficient in and of ourselves. We must enter into the kingdom through the door of destitution...When we are hungry spiritually then we may receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit takes that which is "beyond" us and places it "within"us. And immediately once "the beyond" has come "within", it rises up to "the above", and we are lifted into the kingdom where Jesus lives and reigns.(John 3:5)
Overwhelmed song lyrics:
I am nothing yet you bid me come to you oh Lord Almighty. As I come I'm overwhelmed with you. humbly now i break the silence as Im weeping in your presence I'm so wretched overwhelmed with you. Your blood of redemption is covering my shame. Your voice that shakes the heavens is whispering my name. As you catch my tears, in your nail scarred hands, I'm overwhelmed with You. I'm overwhelmed with You.
As my process for going abroad finalizes I start to feel...Realizing that the seniors I know and love won't be here next year is hard to grasp. I've only known Point Loma with the class above us. I've had those solid people in my life to look up to.It's going to be hard. I'm going to really miss them!

Haiti
Today I got an email saying that cholera outbreak has taken place in Haiti. 300 casualties and 3000 people ill. Pray for the people and the clean necessities that hopefully will be provided.
There was also a storm that was horrific and is devastating when so many are living in tents. Haiti is in need. Pray that we as the body of Christ will come together and reach out to our brothers and sisters. Pray for unity. Pray for grace. Jesus we praise you through the storm.

supernatural grace
Discipleship is built entirely on the supernatural grace of God. Grace is dynamic. Grace sanctifies, saves, empowers, strengthens. Titus 2:12 Trains us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self controlled, upright and godly lives in the present age. Grace is not an excuse to sin, but something dynamic given to us to make possible everything God has called us to do.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "no" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Grace transforms. Do not admire me, but admire God's grace within me. Walk supernaturally in faith. Live in Lordship. Grace changes our reality. Be unaffected by these fleeting desires of the world. We are called to be perfect and holy each day.
We FAIL. By grace we can live with the Holy spirit within us.
1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
(notes from matt moore- conerstone church 8.8.10)
This concept of grace has been on my mind a lot this year and how we must trust in the Lord fully with every decision we have in our lives. It is hard for me to stop myself when I am caught up in the business of the world. I must surrender to God. Jesus has taught me time and time again that I just need to quit working up such an ordeal and just trust him. Mark Carter our chapel here at Point Loma had a sermon on practicing resurrection. Anytime I have a struggle I try to remember to repeat that in my mind. PRACTICE RESURRECTION. I was thinking more about 'practice crucifixion' and dying to myself. Dying to my sinful nature and attempting to bear my own cross each day. (Luke 9:23 If anyone desires to follow me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily) But it doesn't end there...ok if I am trying to die to my own self that leaves me dead. I need to recognize the power of the blood. The grace in Jesus' death. I need to practice crucifixion of my own-self but than let Jesus live within me through resurrection.
The holy spirit is the one who I encounter during worship and the one who whispers to us throughout the day. The holy spirit is vital to our existence and to our obedience to our God. In order to display Jesus and his love to others, we must invite the Holy Spirit into our lives daily; in our reading of scripture and our praying and worship and continuous communication with Jesus.
God is so good. I am going through struggles, as is everyone on the face of this planet whether we fail to recognize them or not. I am growing through my struggles. Romans 5 says it all, which is so funny because in class today my math teacher needed a volunteer to read scripture and this happened to be what it was... God is so good.
Romans 5
By faith we have access to grace. By grace we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. We have glory through tribulations knowing tribulations produces perseverance and perseverance character and character hope. 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Grace transforms. Be strong in grace.
Phil 1:6
He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Tim 2:11-13
For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him.
